Decorating Den Interiors: Child's Play, Part 2: The Serious Part

Decorating Den Interiors: Child's Play, Part 2: The Serious Part

The Safety Council periodically reminds me of the dangers in children's rooms.

Windows first: Most of the blinds we use for privacy and light control have cords. These function effortlessly with the touch of a hand. Cordless blinds are also available without power.

To give us safe options, the window blind industry has developed products that function well with cordless lift systems. Should you be putting new blinds in your nursery or young child's room, you may want to choose a product that provides a cordless function.

Furniture hazard: We usually do not consider our children's furniture being a hazard, but the Consumer Product Safety Commission estimated that in 1994, there were about 8,100 emergency room treated injuries associated with tip-over of furniture.
