New Seating and Galley Equipment Flies into Aircraft Interiors Expo 2012 A host of innovative approaches to seating and airline galleys will be on display next month when Aircraft Interiors Expo returns to the Hamburg Messe from 27-29 March. The technically innovative BC-01 employs kinematics to maximise passenger comfort and incorporates a multi-material design to be certain weight savings, while boasting a variety of customisable features. Launch airline Primera Air has recently taken delivery of the first production seats, to be put in place on its five-strong 737NG fleet. RECARO Aircraft Seating will make use of the show to introduce a new business class seat. The trend towards lightweight economy seat products is continued by Acro Aircraft Seating whose Superlight Ultra seat gets its first showing in Hamburg this year. Providing passengers on shorter journeys with increased comfort and living space, in addition to plenty of storage space for personal items such as phones, mp3 players and reading material, it is manufactured using carbon fibre materials to minimise its weight. Acro says it has combined low cost of ownership with a robust yet still light weight design and increased leg room. A number of airlines have already expressed significant interest in the design as well as the company is on track to provide the seats at the end of the year. Developed in conjunction with Intier Automotive for single aisle short-haul flights, this innovative seat weighs less than 25kg and features a backrest moulded from lightweight composite materials. ZIM FLUGSITZ will also showcase a new business class seat. Bridging the gap between short and long-haul flights the 'fixed shell' design allows for the seat settings to be altered to pre-programmed positions, without disturbing fellow travellers. Visitors will also be able to experience B/E Aerospace's Essence Inserts Collection - a range of premium galley equipment which includes a range of beverage makers, ovens and chiller products. Through its innovative but simple to use design and improved product performance, airlines look set to reap the rewards of increased power efficiency, improved ergonomics and reliability, enhanced aesthetics and reduced weight.
